Roofing

We don't take shortcuts. We look for manufacturers of roofing, siding, insulation, and other building materials who provide their own warrantees. We then back them with our own guarantee of good workmanship.

Before starting a job our representative will provide you with samples of different styles and colors, then gain your approval and spell out your choices on the written agreement.

The most commonly used residential roofing material is a 20-year or 30-year warranteed composition shingle. This shingle is asphalt and fiberglass-based topped with colored granules. Major manufacturers include GAF, Elk, Owens Corning, Tamko and Atlas. Other types of residential roofing materials include metal standing seam, stone coated metal shingles, wood shingles, wood shakes and imitation slate. Exotic style shingles are becoming more popular for homeowners who want a more distinct look.

A New Image Construction offers a wide array of roofing services including, Metal Roofing Systems, Flat & Sloped Roofs, Slate & Tile, Simulated Slate & Tile, Built Up Systems, Single Ply, Stone Coated Steel Systems, Roof Repair & Replacement,  Storm Damage including Hail, Tornado and Wind Damage.

Extending the Life of Your Roof

The most important thing you can do to extend the life of your roof is to prevent heat build up in the attic. Heat radiating from the attic softens the asphalt base of the shingle, causing granules to slough off. Granular loss is the most common reason for shortened lifespan of a roof. More detailed information may be found at Proper Attic Ventilation on this site.

Another proactive measure is to keep debris from accumulating in valleys. At least twice a year (more if your roof receives heavy tree leaf accumulation) you should sweep or blow debris from valleys and flat surfaces of your roof. This helps prevent shingles from decaying beneath a moist layer of leaves, twigs, and dirt. Call A New Image Construction or a qualified roof specialist if this is not a project you are confident in undertaking yourself.

If you have a flat or low pitched roof over all or part of your home or business, you should periodically check it for debris build up. If the roofing material is of non-granulated rolled goods (a smooth surface), it should be coated with an aluminum top coating for ultra violet sunray protection. In Texas, UV rays can play havoc with non coated flat surfaces. Also, if water ponds on a flat roof and the evaporation period is more than three days, the surface should be coated with elastomeric or other protective coating.
